Today: Other Criteria (London, NY) @ The Armory Show
Going to The Armory Show is like traveling around the world to see as many galleries as possible within a few hours. It’s a little crazy. It’s also crazy fun. So in the next few days, I will be posting select pictures from the show in case you missed it.
Today, some not so lucky chicks fly eternally in the Other Criteria booth by artist Polly Morgan. Enjoy!

Today: Vito Giancaspro’s Art to Wear
So last November, I was visiting some galleries in Chelsea and somehow ended up wearing what can only be described as a canvas backpack with performance artist Vito Giancaspro and his crew. We infiltrated galleries, got stuck in doors, and had a great time.

Today: Yue Minjun @ Arario New York
Yue Minjun’s cloned-self portraits are explosions of artistic power. Superficially humorous, the pigments are barely containing the torrential force they were given responsibility for. Mouths forced to smile. Bodies forced to laugh. And eyes forced shut so they never notice a thing.

Today: Hope Gangloff @ Susan Inglett Gallery
Based on these paintings, one can infer that Hope Gangloff likes lounging, looking at people lounging, or likes the thought of lounging. But maybe she just hates it enough to make paintings of.

Today: Laurent Tixador & Abraham Poincheval @ Tanya Bonakdar
Funny, little, craftsmen created out of tools by funny, big, craftsmen using tools.

Today: Matthew Cusick @ Pavel Zoubok
Here are some great images from Matthew Cusick’s new show titled Cease To Exist. Cusick uses maps and book pages mixed with inks and paint to create collages that feel both very familiar and disarmingly foreign. Kind of like that friend you know you can trust, but have grown distant from.

Today: Audrey Kawasaki @ Jonathan LeVine
Audrey Kawasaki can be seen as one (or maybe all) of several things. A skilled illustrator. An introspective artist. Or even a glorified Manga cartoonist. Call her what you want, but one thing is for sure: she knows how to make beautiful images. Perhaps one of today’s most popular and recognizable illustrators, Audrey’s images are nothing short of technical perfection. Always subtle in her deliverance, Audrey never tries too hard, yet still manages to create images that make you sweat a little. Look out for her online auctions where you can own one of her limited prints. But you better make sure you click “Buy” the millisecond it goes on sale, because they sell out instantly. No joke.
